Vacuum Form Tooling

Vacuum forming is a streamlined version of thermoforming, wherein a plastic sheet is heated to its forming temperature, stretched over a single-surface mould, and then conformed to the mould through vacuum pressure. The initial stage of the vacuum-forming process involves the creation of tooling, which is typically the most detailed phase. From initial concept to finished products, we guide our clients through every step, ranging from low-volume prototypes to high-volume production run tooling. We offer advice on tooling materials to meet budget and product volume needs. All tools are precisely CNC machined according to customer CAD files utilizing the latest CAD/CAM software. We accommodate a wide range of file formats including STEP, IGES, Parasolid, SolidWorks, and DXF. Below is an overview of the most common tooling material options:

  • Wood
  • MDF
  • Cast Resins
  • Cast Aluminium

Advantages of vacuum forming:

  • Cost-Effective
  • Ability To Form Large Parts
  • Sharper Details
  • Tighter Tolerances
  • Quicker Tooling
  • Allows for Moulded-In Texture

Reverse engineering

Reverse engineering is the process of extracting knowledge or design information from man-made objects and reproducing them, or creating new items based on the extracted data. This method involves disassembling an object and meticulously analysing its components.

At Patterntech Ltd, we assist clients in completing their most complex inspection, analysis, and reverse engineering projects. We provide manufacturers with the competitive turnaround time needed to stay ahead in the industry.

Our services include delivering fast and accurate 3D data, as well as building 3D CAD models in various file formats such as IGES or Parametric Solidworks.

3D Scanning

The 3D scanning service is an essential component of reverse engineering projects. This method provides highly accurate data capture and can be applied to a diverse range of objects of varying sizes. Unlike conventional CMM machines, which capture only selected critical parts, 3D scanning delivers comprehensive surface observation, recording, and measurement modelling.

3D Modeling

At Patterntech Ltd, we provide an exceptional 3D modelling service. Our extensive experience in this field enables us to expedite your product development process. Utilizing our advanced CAD/CAM software, we can create precise 3D models applicable to a wide array of industries, from mechanical machine components to architectural presentation projects. Our expertise ensures the production of highly realistic and detailed representations of your structures, viewed from multiple angles through 3D solid modelling. This system allows us to deliver both visualization and engineering analysis, thereby enhancing the efficiency of your development process.

Die Services

Patterntech has the experience and quality, to help you with all of your die making needs, using high-tech machine tools and equipment.

We provide a full range of services, such as:

  • State of the art machinery and equipment for maximum efficiency
  • Skilled designers, tool and die-makers and machine operators
  • Competitive prices and an excellent delivery service with short lead times

Using CNC machining, as well as general machining, we have the capabilities to help from the design stage of the product, all the way to its completion. All of our work is carried out, using our comprehensive ISO 9001 quality system, assuring on-time delivery of high quality dies, such as:

  • High-pressure die castings
  • Low-pressure die castings
  • Investment casting
  • Gravity die casting

Pattern Making

We provide a custom service, with pattern equipment tailored to each customer's specific needs and requirements. Our tooling is cut using advanced CNC machines and our in-house CAD/CAM software, allowing us to produce high-quality tooling with fast lead times. With the CAD systems available to us, we can accept models from customers in various formats. From these, we create tooling CAD models that are submitted for customer review before manufacturing begins. We collaborate closely with our customers to ensure the tooling solution is optimized before CNC machining starts.

Customers can select from a wide range of materials for their pattern equipment, including one-off sample castings, medium production volumes made from high-density model board, or various steels/irons. Our machines are capable of handling all these materials. Additionally, we offer a variety of pattern-making methods to suit different foundry systems.

  • Airset frames
  • shell moulding
  • Replicast FM process
  • Replicast CS process
  • DESA
  • Core Mask

Prototypes

Our CNC milling machines, enable us to machine precision prototype products from most metals, woods and plastics to create: Tools, models, product designs and proof-of-concepts. The benefits from using the prototype method include:

  • Check dimensions and view product appearance
  • Cost affective
  • Ability to check for flaws in the product before production
  • High quality finish
  • Unrivalled accuracy
